AI Spellcheck
AI Spellcheck uses artificial intelligence to catch errors and improve your prose. It goes beyond traditional spellcheck to understand context and intent.
How It Works
When enabled, AI Spellcheck reviews each paragraph as you write. You'll see visual indicators:
- Blue pulsing line on the left: The AI is analyzing that paragraph
- Orange flash: Analysis complete
Editing Levels
Choose how aggressive you want the AI to be:
- Minimal — Only fixes obvious typos. Leaves everything else alone.
- Standard (Default) — Fixes spelling and grammar mistakes while preserving your style.
- Editorial — Fixes errors plus gently improves awkward phrasing.
- Aggressive — Active editing for word choice, flow, and readability.
Review Mode vs. Auto Mode
Review Mode (default): Corrections appear as suggestions. You can accept or reject each one.
Auto Mode: Corrections apply automatically with a brief orange highlight.
AI Chat Assistant
The AI Chat lets you have a conversation with an assistant that understands your book.
What Can You Ask?
- "What color are Sarah's eyes?" (and it will search your notes and chapters)
- "Summarize what happens in chapter 3"
- "Does this dialogue sound natural?"
- "Help me describe this setting"
- "What are some ways I could resolve this plot hole?"
Context Scope
Control how much of your library the AI can search:
- Book only — Just the chapters in your current book.
- Book + Notes — Current book plus all notes on this bookshelf.
- Series only — All chapters from all books in the series.
- Series + Notes (Default) — All books in the series plus all bookshelf notes.
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific: "Why does Marcus distrust the council?" works better than "Tell me about Marcus"
- Reference your own terms: The AI knows your character names, place names, and concepts
- Follow up: The AI remembers your conversation, so you can dig deeper
