At Author's Forge, privacy isn't just a feature—it's fundamental to how we built our software. Your writing is your intellectual property, and we have no business accessing, storing, or analyzing it.
Simple Promise: Your work never leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose to sync it with a cloud service of your choice. We never see, store, or have access to your content.
What We Don't Collect
- • Your writing content (manuscripts, notes, outlines)
- • Personal information (unless you explicitly provide it for support)
- • Usage patterns within your documents
- • File names or project titles
- • Any data stored in your libraries
What We May Collect
1. Crash Reports (Optional)
If the app crashes and you choose to send a report, it contains only technical information about the error—never your content.
2. Anonymous Usage Statistics (Optional)
With your permission, we collect basic analytics like feature usage frequency to improve the product. This never includes your actual writing.
3. Email Communications
If you sign up for updates or contact support, we store your email address solely for communication purposes.
Your Data Storage
All your writing data is stored locally on your computer in the locations you choose. You have complete control over:

- • How your data is backed up
- • Which cloud services (if any) sync your data
- • Who has access to your files
AI Features (Coming Soon)
When we launch AI features:
- • AI processing will be opt-in only
- • Content sent for AI processing will be encrypted
- • No content will be stored on our servers after processing
- • AI features can be completely disabled
- • Free version will always work 100% offline
Third-Party Services
Author's Forge may integrate with third-party services you choose to use (like Dropbox or Google Drive for syncing). Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- • Use Author's Forge completely offline
- • Export all your data at any time
- • Delete the application and all local data
- • Opt out of any optional data collection
- • Request deletion of any data we may have (like your email)
Data Security
Since your data stays on your computer, security is largely in your hands. We recommend:
- • Regular backups of your libraries
- • Using your operating system's security features
- • Encrypting sensitive projects if needed
- • Using secure cloud services for syncing
Children's Privacy
Author's Forge is a general-purpose writing tool. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, as we don't collect personal information from any users through the app itself.
